PROGRAM OVERVIEW ARMY ROTC TEACHES YOU TO LEADARMY ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) is one of the best leadership courses in the country and is part of your college curriculum. During classes, leadership labs, physical training and field training exercises, you will learn firsthand what it takes to lead others, motivate groups and conduct missions as an Officer in the Army. Upon graduation from ARMY ROTC, you will earn the bar of a Second Lieutenant and be commissioned into the Active Army, Army reserves or the Army National Guard and become a leader for life.
4 Year Scholarship ApplicantsIf you are currently a senior in high school and desire a 4 year scholarship. You must first apply to the college that you wish to attend and simultaneously complete the 4 year on line scholarship application for ARMY ROTC. Please keep in mind that your admissions application and your ARMY ROTC application are two separate entities. In order to accept your ARMY ROTC scholarship you must be accepted into the college by the normal admissions process for the college in which you plan on attending. Please visit the ARMY ROTC website and complete the 4 year on-line application. The ARMY ROTC application is free, but keep in mind you must complete the application to determine your eligibility. Please visit the 4 year on line application website (CLICK HERE) Once you have completed the application Cadet Command will send you out a notification that you must conduct and interview with our Professor of Military Science. Here at the University of Connecticut we hold our scholarship boards on Saturdays. We find this is the most accommodating time for you and your parents to attend our scholarship briefing and for you the student to conduct the interview with our Professor or Military Science. Please bring with you a change of gym close and running shoes. Once we conduct the interview, you will be required to change into your gym clothes and take the Army Physical Fitness Test which includes Push Ups, Sit Ups and a 2 mile run. Cadet OrganizationsThe University of Connecticut ARMY ROTC program is organized under the Nathan Hale Battalion. The Professor of Military Science serves as the Battalion Commander and is assisted by her full time staff. The Cadet Corps has their own Chain Of Command which is made up of Cadets (students) who are responsible for running the Battalion while the Cadre Mentor them.
